    bit of a recap
i'm in belgium at the moment and the weirdest thing happened last night. i went to the movies and was walking back to my hostel and as i crossed the road i saw this guy i swore i knew....and guess who it was? joonst who used to work at wallis. it was so random and what made it even freakier was that the day before i ran into this guy i worked with in england while in amsterdam.

anyway....i'm trying to sort out where i'm going to go for the next two weeks cos after that i've got to head back to england. i'm thinking spain but i'm not sure where is good to go and on top of that it seems almost impossible to get accommodation there. oh well....i'm sure it'll sort out somehow.

what have i been up to you ask?....well i've been moving around a fair bit. me and kat kind of realised that we were going to run out of money pretty soon and we hadn't really seen all that many places. so now we're on a mad mission to fit as much in as possible but i think i'm at the end of my tether.....i miss having my own place and a bed to sleep in every night. before we were in amsterdam we spent a week sleeping on trains, in parks, we even spent a night in a doorway. i mean it was all good at the time and heaps of fun but i think i'm getting a bit travelled out.

places i've been to so far.....from the top....kutna hora, prauge, heidelberg, oberwesel, munich, budapest, vienna, salzburg, erfurt, berlin, cologne, frankfurt, dresden, hamburg, amsterdam, antwerp. my favourite would have to be berlin, it's so rich in history and you can see reminders of the wars everywhere. i suppose that sounds rather macarb, what can i say, i like war and that stuff, it kind of intrigues me.

    mushie madness
we took mushies yesterday and went out to see the windmills just out of amsterdam. it was the weirdest day. we got the train out there and it just plonked us in this other world, like the stuff that's in olden day movies. there was this little village that was surrounded by water and windmills, and all the buildings were all shinny and fake looking. everything looked fake and like it was all there just for show, like some freaky tourist attraction. i had to pee so we set out for a toilet. we walked up this pathway and across this bridge that seemed to go on forever, then i started to wig out a bit so we sat down and low and behold there was the toilet! right next to us! so i tried to open the door and the fucker was a fake! a fake toilet, i mean who would have thought? anyway that feaked me out more, it was like we were in homer simpsons dream world of chocolate, there was even a chocolate scent in the air. we walked past this buiding where people were making stuff inside, some sort of food. we convinced ourselves they were making chocolate and then i thought we were in willy wonker and the chocolate factory. i was totally freaked by the place so we had to leave. when we were waiting at the station i thought this guy asked me for a lighter so i went over to him but then he offered me a smoke and when i said no looked really confused. i think i may have imagined him asking for a light and while doing that asked him for a smoke! that freaked me out even more and all i wanted to do was get back to our room cos it seemed like i would never make it back there.

    a day in paris
we got the train here yesterday and didn't arrive till really late cos we missed our stop. we'd got a night train and were supposed to get off in belgium to change trains and go to luxemburg but we slept through our stop. we woke up at seven and we were only a couple of hours away from paris! when we got to the station we asked what the deal was with if we had to pay for another ticket to get back to belgium and cos we have eurail passes we didn't have to. when we found out we thought we may as well spend the day in paris! we went to see notre dame and the eifel tower, we didn't have time to see anything elese cos half the day was spent standing in lines.

    berlin moments
i'm in berlin at the moment and i absolutely love this place! the hostel we're staying in is massive but there doesn't seem to be that many people staying here. and i think all that are are men, disgusting! we've been getting our own rooms in a lot of the places we've stayed and makes us quite the anti-socials cos we just sort of do own thing. i mean that's all good but i think it was starting to do my head in a bit cos i was getting really down and missing home a fair bit. so from now on we've made it a rule to stay in large dorm rooms in an effort to
    make us meet more people.

after munich we went to vienna which was okay. i was expecting a lot more and it didn't really seem to have all that much to offer. we did all the things in lonely planet that looked interesting but nothing really grabed me as absolutely amazing. when we were leaving in the morning these girls who had just got there were asking us where we went that was good and it took me a bit to remember if i'd particularly liked anything. so all in all i could have lived without seeing the place.

from there we went to salzburg which i completely loved. we were only there for one night but it's only a small place so we got to see everything we wanted to. we went to this church that had a really cool graveyard, a lot of the tomb stones were made of wrought iron and had lanterns and stuff hanging from them. then there were these fenced off graves that ran around the side of a building which had huge paintings in them from back in the day. in the side of a hill there were catacombs (i still don't know what that word actually means) which was like a tiny cave thing with altars and pews. it was pretty cool.

we went up a hill to a fortress and went did an audio tour of the interior cos it was supposed to have a torture chamber and musseum with torture istruments in it. but when we got to he 'torture chamber' we found out it was never used to administer torture and only got it's name because the instruments were put in that particular room which was above the dungeon. and the museum, well i didn't come across it. needless to say it was a bit of a let down. but there was an amazing view from one of the towers where you could see all of salzburg so that made up for it. that night we went to this little fair type thing and went on this big
ferris wheel similar to the london eye which had a mad view. then we went for a bit of a troll and i won kat some fake roses by shooting some plastic pipes, it was all very omantical! when we were making our way to the bus stop to get to the camping ground we stayed
at we were congratulating ourselves on what a good day it had been and how well everything eemed to have slipped into place, unfortuatley there was no wood near by to touch so it all went down hill from there. we had to get to the camp sight before ten cos that's
when they shut and we'd left ourselves with heaps of time but we got on the wrong bus. it started heading the opposite way but we stayed on nearly to the end of the line cos we thought it was going to do a bit of loop and end up where we wanted to go anyway. when we finally found the right bus the stop had been moved and we waited at the wrong stop for ages until we were nearly going to get to the camp site after it shut. we got there in the end though with a few minutes to spare.
